Database Upload-Decompile-Save

By Custom Computer Systems

www.davidhagemann.com

Easy to use - one button to Upload, Decompile and Save the entire database on your OWS.  This includes all feature data, the global database and All NCM databases for your network.  You can save the database to any drive-directory that is mapped to the OWS.  The application allows you to upload an individual NCM by selecting it and clicking the Upload Selected button.  This application saves you hours of time on larger networks.  A log is generated of all uploads and whether the upload was successful or failed and the results of the UNDDL decompiler.  The only setup required is to tell the application where to store the database save.  This application uses the UNDDL files to get the Network names and NCM names.

This product works with any revision of PMI and/or M5 Workstation software.  Operating systems Windows 98, Windows 2000 or Windows NT.  You must be logged in to PMI before trying to upload.

Assumptions
1.  This application was designed for N1 Arcnet, N1 Ethernet and NC Direct connected NCMs.  It has not been tested for dialup.
2.  This application was designed for Standard PMI or M5 Workstation software.
3.  This application has been tested on Win98, Win2000 and WinNT.

Help

Instructions - Displays this file.

About - Displays the About screen.  This is where you register this software.  If you would like to transfer this software to another PC, contact david@davidhagemann.com for instructions on how to accomplish this.

Upload Selected button -  Clicking this button will upload all selected items in the list.  After performing the uploads, a UNDDL FMS /Y will be performed if the Decompile DB checkbox is checked.  If the Save Database checkbox is checked, a PKZip -Pr will be done to the FMSDATA environment variable path.  A log of all activity is displayed showing the success or failure of the uploads.  If an upload fails, it will automatically continue to the next NCM.  After finishing all NCM uploads it will return to the failed NCM and make a second attempt.  If there are any decompiling errors, the display will indicate how many.  You can then select the NCM in the list and go to View then UNDDL File to look at the errors.  The display area of the application shows the current uploads, but going to the View menu and selecting Log File will show a log of all uploads since the last time the file was cleared.

Display All or Display Failed Only options - Sets the display box to display the entire log or only the failures.

Clear List button - Clears the display list.

To Notepad button -  Sends the current display list to Notepad for saving or printing.

Save Setup button -  This will save the selection and options for this workstation on the selected network so next time you run this application on this OWS the setup options are retrieved.

Selecting NC1 in the list then clicking on View then UNDDL File - NC1.und brings up the following screen capture.  This is the UNDDL file for NC1.
