Upload Automation

Total upload automation of your networks Global databases and All NCM databases.  This application saves you hours of time on larger networks.  You can schedule this to run Daily, Weekly or Monthly at a selected time.  No user interaction is required.  A log is generated of all uploads and whether the upload was successful or failed. This application uses the UNDDL files to get the Network names and NCM names.

This product works with any revision of PMI and/or M5 Workstation software.  Operating systems Windows 98, Windows 2000 or Windows NT.

Assumptions

1.  This application is installed on the Archive OWS.

2.  This OWS is the Archive PC for All NCMs on the network(s).

3.  This application was designed for N1 Arcnet, N1 Ethernet and NC Direct connected NCMs.  It has not been tested for dialup.

4.  This application was designed for Standard PMI and M5 Workstation software.

5.  This application has been tested on Win98, Win2000 and WinNT.

6.  This application runs from the System Tray using this icon

 

Menu Items 

File

Exit - This does not actually close the application.  It is still running in the System Tray.  The only way to close this application is by right clicking on the  icon in the system tray and selecting Close.

View

Log File - This is the log of the application showing when it was started, terminated and it is also a log of the upload activity.

Errorlog File - This is a log of any runtime errors.  If you are having any problems with this application email this file to david@davidhagemann.com.

Action

Setup - Displays the setup screen explained below

Clear Log File - Renames the current Log File to upload.bak and starts a new upload.log.  The first line indicated the clear date and time.

Clear Errorlog File - Renames the current Log File to errorlog.bak and starts a new errorlog.txt.  The first line indicated the clear date and time.

Help

Instructions - Displays this file in notepad.

About - Displays the About screen.  This is where you register this software or transfer the registration to another PC.

Change Password - You must provide the application with a valid level 2 password.  The application's default password is METASYS.  If you forget the password the application is using, you can enter the Upload Automation's serial number found in the Help - About screen and then add a valid Level 2 PMI password.  For added security, it is recommended you removed all report groups from the password you use. 

Test Log On - Tests the log on capabilites of the application using the password you have provided.

Test Log Off - Test the applications log off capabilities.

Test Global Upload - Tests the applications ability to do a global upload.

Upload Selected NCM - Tests the applications ability to upload the selected NCM.

Schedule - This area allows you to schedule the uploads to automatically occur at the selected Time, Frequency and Day.

Close Setup - Removes the setup screen.

Scheduled Uploads

When a scheduled upload is about to begin, a warning window appears.  This window gives you the opportunity to postpone the start of the uploads for 10 minutes by clicking on the Cancel button.  Clicking on the OK button will start the uploads immediately.  The timer counts down to 0 then launches the uploads.
